Jailbreak Your PS5 Offline: A Complete Guide (Firmware 1.0 to 5.50)
Want to jailbreak your PlayStation 5 but don't want to connect to the internet? This guide will show you how to do it! You can jailbreak your PS5 offline using an ESP device. This method works for PS5s with firmware versions from 1.0 to 5.50.
Why Jailbreak Offline?
Staying offline has some advantages:
- Avoid system updates: You won't be bothered by update prompts.
- Extra security: You can avoid the risk of console bans.
However, staying completely offline means you can't use online features. That's where ESP devices come in!
What is an ESP Device?
An ESP device is a small, affordable circuit board, like an Arduino. It can create its own Wi-Fi network. Your PS5 can connect to this network to run the jailbreak. The best part? It's totally disconnected from the internet.
Benefits of using an ESP device:
- You can still use network features, like FTP.
- You stay completely offline and avoid updates.
What You Need
- A PS5 with firmware between 1.0 and 5.50
- An ESP8266, ESP32-S2, or ESP32-S3 device
- A computer
- USB drive
Step 1: Disable Automatic Updates
First, stop your PS5 from automatically updating:
- Go to Settings.
- Go to System.
- Go to System Software.
- Go to System Software Update and Settings.
- Turn off Download Update Files Automatically.
- Turn off Install Update Files Automatically.
Why do this? Even offline, your PS5 might try to update from a game disc. Turning these off will at least ask you before it updates.
Step 2: Check Your PS5 Firmware
Make sure your PS5 has the correct firmware:
- Go to Settings.
- Go to System.
- Go to System Software.
- Go to Console Information.
Look at the System Software version. It needs to be between 1.0 and 5.50.
Step 3: Set Up Your ESP Device
Now, let's get your ESP device ready:
- Download the required files from the linked website. You will need:
- The correct ESP software for your device (ESP8266, ESP32-S2, or ESP32-S3).
- ESP Host Media Package.
- NodeMCU PyFlasher.
- Connect your ESP device to your computer. Some ESP32 devices need to be put into program mode. You may need to hold the boot button while plugging it in.
- Install drivers if needed. If your device shows an exclamation mark in Device Manager, you need drivers. The drivers you need depend on the device you have (CH340 or CP2102). Download and install the correct drivers.
- Open NodeMCU Flasher. Select the correct COM port for your device. Then, select the ESP software file you downloaded.
- Change settings. Set the baud rate and flash mode according to your ESP device's instructions. Select the option to wipe all data.
- Flash the device. Click "Flash NodeMCU" to write the software to the ESP device.
Step 4: Prepare Your USB Drive
Next, get your USB drive ready:
- Format your USB drive as exFAT or FAT32.
- Copy the ESP Host Media Package to the root of the USB drive (not in a folder).
- Download and copy Items Flow to the root of the USB drive. You can get Items Flow from pkg-zone.com.
Step 5: Connect to the ESP Network
Now, go back to your PS5:
- Plug the ESP device into a USB port on the back of the PS5.
- Plug the USB drive into another USB port on the PS5.
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Network.
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Set Up Internet Connection.
- Press the Options button. Make sure Wi-Fi frequency bands are on Automatic or 2.4GHz.
- Scan for networks. Select your ESP host network (it should be named something like "PS5 ESP Host").
- Enter the password. The password is "12345678".
Your PS5 will connect to the ESP network but won't be able to access the internet. This is normal!
Step 6: Run the Jailbreak
Time to jailbreak!
- Go to User's Guide in the PS5 menu. It should automatically redirect to the exploit running on the ESP device.
- Accept the certificate if prompted.
- Run the jailbreak. It might crash the first time. If it does, just restart and try again.
- Select and run the "etaHEN" payload. This is the main payload that jailbreaks your console. It might take a while to load. Just wait for it to finish.
Step 7: Install Packages
Once the etaHEN payload is loaded:
- Press the PS button
