PS4 Jailbreak 12.02 is Here! A Step-by-Step Guide

The PS4 12.02 jailbreak is finally here! This guide will show you how to set it up using HEN, FPKG, and fake package methods. This works for PS4s with firmware up to 12.02.

Warning: This is a temporary fix. Sony will likely patch it soon. If you want homebrew, custom themes, and backups on your PS4 12.02, do this now!

What You Need

To jailbreak your PS4, you will need:

  • A PS4 with firmware up to 12.02
  • A physical copy of a supported game
  • A USB drive
  • A computer
  • Internet connection

Find a Supported Game

You need a physical copy of one of the supported Japanese games to get the jailbreak working on older PS4 firmwares. These games use the Artemis engine. Here is a list of some supported games:

  • Raspberry Cube
  • Nora Princess and Crying Cat

You can buy these games from online stores like Play Asia or eBay. They are usually Japanese titles, so you may need to have them shipped to you.

Get the Modified Save File

To trigger the remote Lua loader, you need to get the modified save file onto your PS4. The easiest way to do this is to restore a backup file. A backup file with all the supported titles is available.

Important: Restoring a backup will reset your PS4.

Before you start, back up your PS4 by:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to System.
  3. Go to Backup and Restore.
  4. Select Back Up PS4.

Copy the backup to a safe place on your computer. After you have your own backup, you can delete it from the USB drive. Then, copy the backup with the modified save files to the root of your USB drive.

Make sure your USB drive is formatted in FAT format. Then plug it into your PS4. Go to Settings, then Backup and Restore in the System settings. Select Restore PS4.

When you launch your Lua game, it should load the remote Lua loader.

Other Ways to Get the Save File

You can also get the save file without resetting your console. But, your account needs to be activated on your PS4.

To check if your account is activated:

  1. Sign out of your profile on your PS4.
  2. On the sign-in screen, hover over your profile and press the Options button.
  3. If you see a menu with "Appear Offline" and "Appear Online," your account is activated.

If your account is activated, download the remote Lua loader saves. This download has the modified save files for the supported games.

You can use Save Wizard ($50) or free Discord save bots to transfer the save file.

Using a Discord Save Bot (Free)

  1. Create a Google Drive account.
  2. Create a PS4 folder in your Google Drive.
  3. Share the folder so anyone with the link can view and edit it.
  4. Copy the modified save file into the folder.
  5. Copy the link to the PS4 folder.
  6. Join the Discord server for the save bot.
  7. Find an active save bot.
  8. Start a new thread with the bot by typing /resign.
  9. Enter your PSN account name and the link to your PS4 folder.
  10. The bot will upload the modified save file and resign it to your profile.
  11. The bot will give you a Google Drive link to download the resigned save file.
  12. Copy the PS4 folder to the root of your USB drive.

Import the Save File

  1. Plug the USB drive into your PS4.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Go to Application Saved Data Management.
  4. Select Saved Data on USB Storage.
  5. Select Copy to System Storage.
  6. Select the save file and copy it to your PS4.

Now, launch your Lua game. The save file should work on your PS4.

Connect to the Network

You need to connect your PS4 to the internet. Go to your network settings and set up an internet connection using a LAN cable or Wi-Fi. Do not select the "Easy" option. Instead, select the "Custom" option.

  • Set the IP Address Settings to Automatic.
  • Do not specify DHCP Host Name.
  • For DNS Settings, select Manual.
